Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote.
If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership. If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?
Advanced proficiency level using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access software applications with VBA/macro experience preferred
Knowledge and experience with SAP, BW, Workiva and/or similar accounting/financial software
Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), with an emphasis on insurance accounting and/or derivatives and equity method accounting
Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and financial systems user applications (SAP preferred), including input/output processing and complex system concepts, and ability to understand and use computer systems and application tools for analysis
Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience performing financial analysis, reporting, and/or process improvement
Demonstrated competencies in the areas of consulting, change management, quality and project management
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's in Degree Accounting or a related field 6 years of professional job-related work experience in investments or related accounting/reporting Experience managing projects or implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Education & Experience Preferred
CFA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent training and certification
Travel Less than or equal to 10% Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Performs SOX testing and ensures SOX documentation is maintained and updated timely for the department in order to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
Analyzes and researches how to account for new derivatives and limited partnership investments
Documents and enhances operating and SOX control procedures and policies
Performs and reviews data entry of derivatives and limited partnership transactions
Prepares and reviews analytical data and reports for derivatives and other complex assets for all accounting bases, including USGAAP, STAT, and USTAX and application of hedge accounting (if
