Job Summary
The Fixed Maintenance Mechanic IV of Heavy Equipment is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in the mining, construction, and transportation industries such as pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring testing instruments.. This position requires a high level of technical skill and experience in the maintenance of heavy equipment, as well as a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Essential Functions • Observes mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoots problems • Reviews lubrication reports and service records and performs oil, lube and filter service on all assigned equipment. • Dismantles device to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections • Inspects and identifies conditions of equipment (wear, alignment, function, etc) • Inspects, diagnoses and performs repair and maintenance of all plant stationary equipment • Adjusts functional parts of devise and control instruments using hand and/or power tools • Performs a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including repairs to crushing, screening, conveying, speed reducers, feeders, vibrators, air compressors and pumping equipment. • Performs welding tasks as required to accomplish stated installation/repair jobs. • Installs special functional and structural parts in device.
