About this role
Amazon is looking for a Category Manager to drive category growth and strategic partnerships for the Gift Cards business. This is a rare blend of Category Management and Business Development; a role that offers deeper control over critical growth levers and places you at the exciting intersection of online retail and fintech. Gift Cards offer a unique value proposition by not just being a gifting product but also a payment instrument. With Gift Cards being significantly underpenetrated in the Gifting industry and Amazon Pay Gift Cards having a lion's share in the Gift Cards market, this role offers exponential growth potential and a unique opportunity to shape the industry. If you thrive on ownership, this role offers early P&L responsibility, a rare accelerator for a successful long-term career. You will own revenue and profitability goals, set the long-term vision for your category, and drive insights-based product innovation. Key job responsibilities A.Category Management & Retail Inputs 1. Drive core retail inputs of selection, pricing, and customer experience to drive consistent improvements across key topline and CX metrics 2. Drive demand-generation by funneling Amazon's internal traffic through navigational & merchandised assets to Gift Cards B.Business Development & Account Management 1. Identify, pitch and onboard new sellers, brands and vendors into the Gift Cards ecosystem; negotiate strategic agreements and build long-term partner relationships 2. Own end-to-end account management for 3P Branded Gift Cards (sellers/brands) and Amazon Pay Gift Cards (vendors), driving regular business reviews and joint planning with partners C.Business Planning & Long-Term Ownership 1. Independently build quarterly and monthly plans to achieve annual goals; present business reviews to internal stakeholders 2. Own full P&L for your category, set the long-term vision, collaborate with Product & Tech on the roadmap, and unlock alternate revenue channels through insights-based innovation A day in the life You start your morning reviewing topline metrics to spot trends needing immediate attention. By mid-morning, you're pitching a leading lifestyle brand with data-backed ideas to grow their Gift Cards issuance volume on Amazon. Post-lunch, you refine pricing strategies, review selection gaps and work with the catalog team to improve the CX on detail pages. You then sync with Product & Tech on a roadmap feature that could unlock a new revenue channel. Later, you're preparing a quarterly business review for leadership. Before wrapping up, you check in on a key 3P seller's concern regarding poor customer ratings.
