The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the SH division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease. We are recruiting a Senior R&D Engineer to join our Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) delivery catheter team. This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing development team that provides solutions to patients suffering from aortic valve disease. The individual who fills this role will play an important part in the design, development, and testing of TAVI delivery catheters from early clinical feasibility through commercialization.  The candidate will be responsible for providing engineering expertise in its creation and the development of this class 3 medical device product in this desirable technology space.  This candidate will collaborate with passionate engineers, clinicians and cross functional parters in a fast-paced, mission-drive environment.   What You’ll Work On Research, develop, design, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment. Conduct feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality. Develop new concepts from initial design to market release. Maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development. Investigate and evaluate existing technologies. Review or coordinate vendor activities to support development. Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. Work with internal departments and outside vendors to obtain prototype parts. Under the guidance from a core team project plan, generate design improvement concepts to meet specific design goals. Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Bio-Medical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. 6+ years’ experience in an engineering environment (i.e. manufacturing, R&D, or lab setting environment). Demonstrated experience writing test methods, model development and identifying potential issues with designs. Experience using Solidworks. Experience in statistical analysis (basic statistics, ANOVA, and design of experiments). Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree. Hands-on experience with catheter
