APS ( Arizona Public Service) is looking to add a Designer III to their team in Casa Grande. The Designer III develops, reviews, and modifies complex plant, substation, and customer design systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You ensure design configurations and associated documentation comply with established engineering standards and design requirements. You will collaborate with engineers, field personnel, and project teams to develop design solutions, maintain accurate system documentation, and provide input on material, equipment, and project cost estimates.   Key Responsibilities

Develop, review, and modify complex plant, substation, and customer design systems. Ensure design configuration documents comply with engineering standards, specifications, and design parameters. Support the development and implementation of Plant Design Change Packages and related documentation. Prepare technical drawings, design calculations, Bills of Materials, and other engineering documentation. Conduct field visits and design walk-downs to verify existing conditions and support project execution. Provide input to project cost estimates related to material and equipment requirements. Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams to support successful project delivery. Maintain accurate design records to support long-term system reliability and regulatory compliance.

Location: This position is based at APS's Casa Grande location Minimum Requirements

High School diploma/GED. Must have completed two years college or technical school course work in CADD or a technical discipline (or equivalent) plus four (4) years related design experience in area of specialization. Must demonstrate effective interpersonal, communications and PC skills in a Windows environment. Some work areas may require a valid driver's license.  Major Accountabilities

1) Create or revise all necessary controls or clear and concise physical construction drawings for a substation/plant projects or customer projects utilizing preliminary design information and some guidance by an engineer. Assist Engineering in the development of Plant Design Change or multiple medium to complex job packages that are technically sound and within cost and schedule using manual or CADD techniques and related software.   2) May perform Plant walk-downs in order to evaluate design alternatives to ensure constructability, maintainability, and accessibility, providing subordinates with on the job training, as available.   3) Update substation drawings to reflect as built changes to ensure continued drawing accuracy. Change standardized substation and master drawings when necessary.   4) Coordinate projects inside/outside department to ensure timely completion. Provide clear communications and eliminate duplicate effort. Ensure that all project commitments are achieved in a timely manner.
