Software Engineer – Cloud Security Segmentation Platform Shape the Future of Cloud Security At eBay, Cloud Security protects one of the world’s largest commerce ecosystems. Our Segmentation platform secures thousands of services, workloads, and databases across Kubernetes clusters, cloud providers, and data centers. We’re looking for software engineers who are passionate about building scalable distributed systems and eager to leverage AI to accelerate development, improve software quality, and continuously learn. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to build the next generation of cloud security platforms that power and protect global commerce. What You’ll Do Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for eBay’s Cloud Security Segmentation platform. Build features for Kubernetes-based control plane services and cloud-native security platforms. Develop reliable, well-tested software using modern engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, and observability. Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, product managers, and SRE teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions. Troubleshoot production issues across distributed systems, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and incident response to continuously improve system reliability. Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development efficiency, testing, debugging, documentation, and code quality. Continuously learn new technologies and contribute to improving engineering processes through automation and innovation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of software engineering experience . Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++ . Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking fundamentals. Experience developing backend services or distributed applications. Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native application development. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing. Basic understanding of Linux, TCP/IP networking, and cloud infrastructure. Experience using AI-powered development tools to improve productivity and software quality. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with one or more of the following: Kubernetes and container networking Service Mesh (Istio or Envoy) Linux networking (iptables, nftables, network namespaces) Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Databases and messaging systems Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry Security technologies such as Zero Trust, workload identity, or micro-segmentation What We’re Looking For You enjoy solving technical problems, writing clean and reliable code, and learning from experienced engineers.
