What You Will Do
The East Hartford Repair Operations (EHRO) has an opportunity for Process and Manufacturing Engineering (P4) position within the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) engineering team. As a CTRP Process and Manufacturing Engineering (PME), the incumbent will report directly to the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) Engineering Manager and have responsibility for a subset of hardware flowing through the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) shop floor. The successful candidate will be a technical leader to the shop floor and be intimate with day-to-day inspection, thermal spray operations, new technology introduction, programming and robotics. Successful candidates in this role enjoy working with their hands in a machine shop environment and solving problems daily.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day leadership, direction & coordination of Pratt & Whitney support organizations and suppliers focusing on application of advanced coating systems Process development and training, as well as the qualification of advanced coating equipment, which includes surface preparation Create work instructions and optimize process parameters required to support the coating processes. Support and set up the operational infrastructure within the coating department for data collection of the coating processes Keep current on status and recent developments in the plant / industry / profession Ensure World Class safety culture is maintained and respond to all EH&S requirements promptly. Promote corporate code of ethical standards and business practice and company policies. Providing technical support daily to the shop floor for any thermal spray challenges that arise during the repair process. Helping to develop and enforce standardized engineering practices, processes, tools and methods across products. Managing projects and leading in CORE business progress, lean manufacturing, project management, quality improvement efforts. Selecting and introducing new capital equipment to improve cell business metrics.
Qualifications
You Must Have: Advanced Degree and 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant industry experience Qualifications We Prefer: Degree in STEM field; Materials Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred Experience and/or familiarity with thermal spray coatings specifications utilizing complex techniques, particularly in an FAA Repair Station MRO environment. Thorough understanding of manufacturing process and/or repair process life cycle. Strong technical and functional knowledge of turbine engines and/or Pratt & Whitney products. Ability to read and interpret technical data, engine manuals and blueprints. Advanced skills in robotic programming ability to utilize and program ASEA robot
