Amazon Studios is a movie and series production company. We are seeking a dynamic Senior IP Executive to work across Japan and the US, to help identify and partner with Manga and Anime properties for adaptation to screen. A successful candidate is proactive and excels at building relationships and trust, has relationships with publishers, and industry professionals in Japan, and is excited to strategize across multiple creative teams and business affairs worldwide to help secure a path and facilitate on screen adaptation. Key job responsibilities - Serves as the primary Japan IP liaison to the Head of Global IP Acquisitions, providing market intelligence, property assessments, and strategic recommendations on adaptation targets - Acts as a trusted creative partner to the Head of Japan, International Originals aligning IP pipeline with the Japan slate's creative direction and production priorities - Bridges the Global IP Team and Japan International Originals Team ensuring continuity of communication, creative intent, and deal terms across territories - Leads Japanese IP sourcing for the Global TV & Film team on English-language or multi-lingual productions, navigating cultural nuances and rightsholder expectations - Champions and facilitates Japanese-language adaptation opportunities for the Japan International Originals team - Works closely with JP creative teams to approach publishers for IP sourcing — partners with our teams in all publisher outreach - Cultivates and maintains deep relationships within Japan's publishing, anime, and manga industries to surface early-stage opportunities before they reach the open market - Scouts, evaluates, and prioritizes adaptation-worthy properties, maintaining a comprehensive tracking pipeline with clear strategic rationale - Provides expert counsel on the optimal acquisition path for each property — assessing rightsholder dynamics, competitive landscape, and structural deal considerations - Shapes and guides creative pitch materials to align with rightsholder sensibilities and maximize the likelihood of securing rights - Owns the rightsholder relationship end-to-end throughout the acquisition process — serving as the single point of trust and accountability - Serves as the ongoing liaison between rightsholders and US/Global productions adapting anime or manga properties, ensuring creative alignment and rightsholder confidence throughout production - Manages all rights verification for Japanese IP of interest to creative teams across the organization - Drives cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders (legal, business affairs, creative, production) and external partners to move opportunities from identification to execution About the team The Global IP & Literary Acquisitions Team works across all movies, TV, and animation teams to find source material to adapt to screen, works to understand and drive fandoms, and manages our library of IP.
