Staff Accountant

POS-20403 We’re seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing finance and accounting team!

As a Staff Accountant, you will not only be responsible for helping the accounting team close the books on a monthly basis and report timely and accurate financial results for the company but you will also be involved in ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives. You’ll work directly on the core accounting team, and be a business partner to the tax, accounts payable, technical accounting/financial reporting, and financial planning & analysis teams.

• Use approved AI tools to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency across core accounting workflows, reconciliations, journal entries, flux analysis, and close documentation, while applying strong professional judgment

• Propose and implement process improvements, including thoughtful use of AI and automation, to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort

• Perform month end closing activities and reconciliations for various accounts/processes. Areas of focus may include but would not be limited to: Cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, vendor accruals, credit cards

• Be cross trained in most staff accountant areas to create leverage on the team

• Prepare journal entries and reconcile account balances, ensuring to maintain accurate supporting records and documentation

• Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual balance sheet and P&L flux analyses

• Prepare documentation/support needed for SOX compliance

• Assist Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team with explaining budget v. actual variances

• Assist with preparation of audit and review packages for external auditors

• Help with ad hoc projects across all aspects of the accounting function

• A curious, learning-oriented mindset with a willingness to experiment with AI tools, iterate on results, and share learnings with teammates to help raise AI fluency across the team

• The ability to independently identify opportunities for automation and thoughtful AI use, with familiarity with (or enthusiasm for learning) various tools

• 0–2+ years of relevant accounting experience, we welcome new graduates who bring strong AI project experience, relevant coursework, or a demonstrated ability to apply emerging technology to accounting and finance problems

• Proficiency in Excel is required, NetSuite, FloQast and Coupa a plus

• A willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done

• Self-driven and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently, identify process improvements, and implement solutions

• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities evolve

• Strong oral and written communication skills

Pay & Benefits

The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
