Role
Summary The Engineer role provides world-class customer service while prioritizing safety, compliance, and operational reliability. As part of the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) department, this individual collaborates cross-functionally to develop and implement repairs, alterations, modifications, and preventive maintenance solutions that improve fleet reliability, safety, and cost efficiency for Alaska Airlines (AS) and Hawaiian Airlines (HA). The role supports engineering directives, maintenance programs, manuals, and task card development while ensuring compliance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Key Duties
Engineer Take initiative to develop and implement engineering solutions for complex repairs, alterations, and maintenance specifications, providing technical support across the M&E organization. Recommend and develop preventive maintenance and reliability improvements focused on safety, cost reduction, and overall fleet performance. Provide aircraft maintenance and interior engineering solutions while ensuring configuration control and regulatory compliance (FAA Parts 121 and 25). Lead and support aircraft delivery acceptance processes and provide engineering assistance to Aircraft On Ground (AOG) and Technical Services, including in‑service interior issue analysis. Review service bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives, and reliability data; recommend actions to improve maintenance effectiveness. Investigate technical issues, propose and evaluate modifications, and develop supporting documentation such as drawings, manuals, and engineering controls. Review, approve, and manage Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) parts, part configuration, interchangeability, installation, and efficiency, including development and revision of ASA engineering drawings. Manage and update engineering project tasks, schedules, and change requests while staying current with industry advancements in aircraft interior systems. Senior Engineer Author and manage engineering control documents (e.g., Engineering Orders, Authorizations, Fleet Campaigns) to direct modifications, improvements, and line troubleshooting dispositions. Provide strategic assessment and compliance direction for Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and Airworthiness Directives to ensure alignment with FAA/FAR requirements and operational objectives. Utilize Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical documentation - Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Component Maintenance Manual (CMM), Maintenance Programs - to support engineering decisions and maintenance solutions. Analyze reliability data and recommend preventive maintenance and reliability improvements to enhance safety, reduce costs, and improve fleet performance. Investigate technical issues, evaluate modification proposals, and recommend corrective actions while ensuring configuration compliance. Review and approve PMA parts and manage part conformity, compliance, installation, and interchangeability/effectivity. Develop, revise, and maintain engineering drawings while managing project tasks, schedules, and change requests within the engineering change management system. Influence cross‑functional teams, prioritize work requests, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and stay current with technical developments affecting aircraft interiors.
