About this role
Job Overview
Join State Street’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) transaction monitoring technology team as we build a next-generation ecosystem for large-scale data, analytics, and machine learning on cloud platforms. Our work strengthens financial crime compliance, improves data-driven decision-making, and enables scalable transaction monitoring and analytics. In this hands-on role, you will partner with AML, compliance, technology, and data teams to translate business objectives, regulatory expectations, and data requirements into effective technical solutions. You will analyze complex datasets, support AML use cases, validate data flows, and help ensure that critical data is complete, accurate, traceable, and well documented. You will also advance data governance across AML platforms by supporting data quality controls, metadata management, data lineage, reconciliation standards, and enterprise data management practices.
What You Will Do
Collaborate with AML business stakeholders, product owners, developers, data engineers, quality assurance teams, auditors, and technology leaders to translate regulatory, business, and data requirements into scalable solutions. Partner with enterprise architecture, information security, and control teams to align solutions with architecture principles, security standards, technology controls, and regulatory expectations. Perform hands-on PL/SQL development using relational database management systems such as Oracle and SQL Server, supporting both data warehousing and OLTP environments for AML and financial crime compliance use cases. Apply strong technical knowledge of RDBMS concepts, database internals, query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, data modeling, ETL/BI methodologies, and large-scale data loading techniques. Develop, enhance, and maintain complex data processing systems, including interface definitions with vendor platforms, upstream and downstream data integrations, workflow orchestration, and multi-system data dependencies. Analyze data across AML technology platforms to identify trends, validate business logic, and support regulatory and operational reporting. Define, document, and maintain critical data elements, source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, reconciliation logic, and data validation controls to ensure completeness, accuracy, and traceability of AML data. Monitor and investigate data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, coordinate remediation efforts with technology and business teams, and help prevent recurring data gaps or control failures. Apply domain knowledge of AML, KYC, transaction monitoring, customer risk, and financial crime compliance processes to interpret data requirements and support effective detection, reporting, and analytics capabilities. Apply knowledge of relational databases, large-scale data platforms, and cloud analytics environments to assess data patterns and strengthen AML detection, reporting, and analytics. What Will Help You Succeed An engineering mindset and a practical approach to solving complex data and compliance challenges. Strong self-motivation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Hands-on experience developing large-scale, multi-tenant applications. Clear communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with business partners and senior leaders. The ability to learn and adapt quickly to new tools and technologies. Education and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. At least five years of hands-on experience in application development or data-focused technology roles. Knowledge of finance, custody services, wealth services, data privacy, AML, KYC, and related compliance domains. Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, and Python. Experience with advanced data engineering technologies such as Apache Spark is a plus. Experience with cloud platforms and analytics technologies, including AWS and Databricks, is a plus. AML
