A Day in the Life Execute calibration activities for electrical, pressure, pneumatics Knowledge of ISO17025 Develop and execute calibration procedures Technical knowledge in electrical, pressure, pneumatics. Perform calibration schedule in time and form. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Calibrates electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to set standards. Tests, calibrates, adjusts, and maintains electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro mechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments. Sets up calibration sequences, methods and procedures according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements. Disassembles, cleans, repairs, and replaces defective parts of test equipment such as pressure gauges and tension meters. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM: Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes. DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS Autonomy: Trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees and may be responsible for leading daily operations of a work team. Runs projects, including performing complex tests, interpreting data, developing key reports and providing updates to the broader team. Organizational Impact: Performs technical activities more complex in nature with larger impact. Work consists of technical tasks that are complex and complicated. Innovation and Complexity: Technical problems faced are general, and may require understanding of broader sets of issues and other job areas, but typically are not complex. May be responsible for working with supervisor to identify potential adjustments or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area. Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts. Obtains and provides technical information on matters of significant importance to the job areas or project. Leadership and Talent Management: May act as a team lead and assistant to the supervisor / manager. May delegate tasks to other team members and be responsible for the review of work product. Does not have formal management responsibilities, but may provide input to management in this area. Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires advanced knowledge of systems, techniques, tools and procedures typically obtained through prior related work experience, training, and/or education. Requires 5+ years of relevant technical experience, which may include a combination of practical experience and applicable training, education, or certification. No minimum education requirement.
