Job Description
UPS is hiring a Director of Public Affairs to lead our government relations and advocacy across Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Luxembourg. This person will own the public affairs agenda for their markets, shape government relations strategy, and deliver outcomes that protect and enable UPS operations and business growth. This is a hands-on, business-embedded public affairs leadership role with clear ownership across four markets, strong operational proximity, and a mandate to deliver outcomes that matter to a global logistics leader. The Director of Public Affairs reports directly to the Vice President of Public Affairs for the UPS EMEA Region, with a dotted line to the Managing Director for Benelux and France. What You’ll Do Assess relevant legislative/regulatory/political developments and stakeholder positions across the West Cluster (Belgium, Netherlands, France, Luxembourg). Develop and execute advocacy strategies that protect UPS operations, network efficiency, and enable business growth. Draft and steer high-quality advocacy collateral (briefings, position papers, consultation responses, executive talking points). Build and maintain strong professional relationships with relevant policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders. Deliver bespoke analysis of political developments as they relate to UPS business priorities. Lead UPS participation in relevant trade associations in your markets, assume leadership roles within trade associations and manage cross-functional UPS engagement in these organizations. Partner closely with internal leaders and operations to ensure government relations strategy is business-aligned. Participate regularly in internal business reviews and contribute relevant public policy context to business strategy development. Respond to local business needs related to municipal/regional/national government as they arise. Engage in public speaking and media-facing opportunities where appropriate.
Your experience
15+ years in government relations / public affairs / public policy (corporate, public sector, trade association, etc.). Experience relevant to transportation/logistics (e.g. transport, trade, customs, sustainability, labour/employment, other related policy areas). Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive advocacy strategies with real-world outcomes. Experience in public speaking/external relations. Post-graduate education in relevant field e.g. political science/public policy. Who are you Self-starter: comfortable with independent ownership, prioritization, and execution of advocacy strategies. Strong communicator (written + verbal) with excellent stakeholder instincts and commitment to credibility and integrity in all public affairs engagements. Commercially curious: motivated to deepen business and operational acumen and work shoulder-to-shoulder with operations leaders. Languages Professional fluency in English, Dutch, and French is required. Location and travelling This role is office-based in the UPS EMEA HQ in Brussels, Belgium. Some travel required (primarily Eindhoven and Paris), driving license necessary.
