The Department Specialist supports daily HR operations with a primary focus on new hire onboarding, orientation, associate experience, compliance, and HR administration. This position partners with Operations, Safety, Payroll, and Talent Acquisition to ensure a seamless onboarding experience while maintaining compliance with company policies and employment regulations. Essential Responsibilities
Coordinate and facilitate all new hire onboarding and orientation activities. Complete and maintain new hire documentation, personnel files, and HR records while ensuring confidentiality. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company onboarding requirements. Partner with Talent Acquisition and Operations to support hiring and onboarding efforts. Respond to associate questions regarding HR policies, payroll, benefits, attendance, and company programs. Support employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and HR initiatives. Assist with recruiting events, interview scheduling, and hiring events. Prepare HR reports and maintain onboarding and compliance metrics. Coordinate new hire safety orientation and maintain required training records. Provide administrative support for HR processes, investigations, leave administration, and other HR functions as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of Human Resources, Recruiting, Administrative, or related experience preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Office; HRIS experience preferred.
Distribution center, warehouse, or union environment experience is a plus
