As an Application Security Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and managing application development platforms and optimizing security tools to facilitate speed to deployment while securing applications. You will work within a team of cybersecurity professionals to enhance development platforms and security tools to optimize performance and usability. You will help establish effective and secure development processes that are aligned with industry best practices. The opportunity In the role of Application Security Engineer, you will manage development platforms, security tools, respond to service request tickets, automates processes, deploy and configure code review tools, and integrate security measures within CI/CD pipelines. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that development platforms and tools are secure and resilient, operational efficiency through automation, and security is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. This includes integrating tools into the development lifecycle, automating manual processes, migrations, and collaborating with developers to implement secure coding practices. You will enable development the teams to identify and mitigate risks early in the development process while maintaining operational efficiency. Your Key Responsibilities
Assist in the operations of Application Security and development tools, including Rally, GitHub, SonarQube, GitHub Advanced Security JFrog Artifactory, Xray, and Tines for automation. Configure, handle, patch, and update self-hosted versions of Artifactory, SonarQube, and GitHub monthly to ensure security and performance. Collaborate with the AppSec Lead to create and resolve operational tickets related to these tools, ensuring effective support for client needs. Maintain and update Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) to the latest versions each month for optimal security and functionality. Contribute to the creation and updating of operational metrics for weekly client meetings, providing insights into tool performance and operational efficiency. Work closely with cross-functional teams to support the enhancement of application security practices and processes.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Hands-on experience in configuring, handling, patching, and updating application security and development tools. Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly in relation to AWS, and experience with CI/CD pipelines. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Experience operating in Agile methodology.
To qualify for the role, you must have
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Extensive experience in application security practices and tools. Hand on experience on cloud patching and updates Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of tasks.
Knowledge of Windows, Linux, Unix, any other major operating systems.
Ideally, you’d also have
2-4 years of experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines. Experience in managing the Application security and development tools Certifications such as CCSP, CSSLP, OSCP, OSWP, GPEN, GWAPT, OSCE, OSEE, GXPN, CISSP, CISM, etc.
Strong ability to listen to and understand client needs, building rapport and delivering effective solutions. Ability to identify, escalate, and manage risks, enhancing service delivery and client satisfaction. Proficient in producing high-quality documentation, reports, and
