Our Mission

Solutions and Payloads business unit, located in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer to help lead Next Generation GEO OPIR, a space-based infrared missile warning technology development and operations program.

What You Will Do

Engineering program execution and technical leadership for advanced infrared (IR) payload sensors. Provide maintenance and operations support for Space-qualified hardware and software. Facilitate communications between external customers, internal Raytheon leadership, and the program’s engineering team. Analysis and forecasting of program staffing, risk/opportunity management, earned value, IPT coordination, subcontracts management, and anomaly management. Managing program technical baseline through appropriate documentation, use of internal and independent reviews, and chairing of Engineering Review Board. Supporting new business activities, leading technical responses to requests for information (RFIs), requests for proposal (RFPs), and impact assessments for scope change including Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs). Support business technical roadmaps and provide technical mentoring . Support the continuous process improvement efforts of Engineering.

Qualification

You Must Have Typically requires a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. Experience in electro-optical (EO) and/or IR sensor systems, Design to Cost / Design to Specification concepts, analysis & trade studies, and link budgets & margins. Experience with hardware and software system integration, test, verification and validation. Experience communicating and presenting complex topics across all organizational levels and customers. Experience with technical team leadership, program staffing, earned value, risk management, subcontract management, and quality controls (process tailoring, audit, etc.).
