About this role
About Pacific Fusion
Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy.
We are rapidly designing and building a pulser-driven inertial fusion system to achieve net facility gain (more fusion energy output than stored energy input). In parallel, we are developing the key components required to build affordable fusion systems.
Our plans are ambitious. We have raised over $900M so far from incredible investors, resourcing us to deliver on these plans. We are bringing together the best scientists, engineers, and operators from the fusion community, hard tech industry, and other sectors. We are united by a shared sense of urgency to provide clean power for the world, particularly managing climate change while meeting growing global energy demand. You can read more about us in this letter from our founders.
Why This Role Matters
As Head of Logistics & Inventory, you will own the flow of material across Pacific Fusion, from supplier dock to production line to installation site. You will build and run logistics and inventory operations across our San Leandro, CA and New Mexico sites: freight, receiving, warehousing, inter-site transfers, shipping, and end-to-end inventory management. Your job is simple to state and hard to do: the right material, in the right place, at the right time so material availability never gates the build.
What You'll Do
• Own logistics operations across all sites: inbound and outbound freight, carrier selection and management, customs/compliance for any international shipments, and cost and service-level performance.
• Run receiving, warehousing, and shipping at each site, including layout, storage strategy, and material handling for large, high-value precision hardware.
• Plan and execute inter-site transfers between San Leandro and New Mexico, including packaging, rigging coordination, and freight for oversized and sensitive equipment.
• Own inventory management end to end: planning, min/max and safety stock strategy, cycle counting, root-causing discrepancies, and driving inventory record accuracy to world-class levels.
• Drive ERP/MES discipline for all material transactions — clean data in, trusted data out — and partner on system implementation and improvement.
• Partner with supply chain and planning on material availability, shortage escalation, and clear-to-build processes that protect the production schedule.
• Support machine installation campaigns with staging, kitting, and site logistics so install teams have what they need when they need it.
• Build and lead the logistics and inventory team across sites: warehouse leads, material handlers, inventory analysts, and logistics coordinators.
• Establish KPIs and daily management for the function — inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock time, on-time delivery to the line, freight cost — and drive continuous improvement.
• Set the standard for safety and housekeeping in all warehouse and material handling operations.
What You Bring
• 10+ years in logistics, warehousing, and inventory management for complex hardware (energy, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, automotive, or similar), including 3+ years leading teams.
• Proven success standing up or scaling multi-site logistics and warehouse operations, ideally during a production ramp.
• Deep command of inventory management fundamentals: cycle
