Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.   Prepares calculations and reports including design reports.  Utilizing both computer-aided engineering (CAE) and hand calculations the individual will prepare CAE models for fatigue, static and dynamic/ nonlinear structural, fracture analyses, with steady state and transient thermal, seismic loadings. Experience performing computational fluid dynamic (CFD) is a plus.   Working knowledge and experience using ANSYS and SolidWorks is required.  Engineer will be required to prepare and review detailed analysis reports performed to the rigor of NQA-1 quality program. Familiarity or experience designing and analyzing systems and equipment to the requirements of ASME III Div. 1, ASME III Div. 5, ASME VIII Siv 1 & 2, AISC or ASCE Design Codes and standards used in commercial or Government nuclear power or fuel processing plants a strong plus.  Works on the design of systems and equipment that support the DOE and commercial nuclear, including Advanced Reactor or Small Modular Reactor (Generation III, III + and Generation IV), fusion reactor and nuclear fuel processing markets. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.  Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected determine methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.  Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.  Determines critical methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform mechanical stress, structural and computational fluid dynamic analyses utilizing ANSYS. May be requested to use other FEA analysis tools such as NASTRAN/FEMAP but proficiency is not required as is required w/ ANSYS. Write and review reports. white papers and prepare calculations and reports per the rigors of ASME NQA-1 Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Design pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping systems per ASME III Division 1, 3 & 5, ASME VIII Division 1 & 2, ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3. Utilize ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code “Design by Analysis” and “Design by Rule” techniques. Design and analyze pressure vessels using COMPRESS. Piping design per ASME III, ASMEB31.1 and ASME B31.3 and analyze piping systems using AutoPipe. Support through analysis the design and engineering of thermal fluid systems to include performing pressure drop, line sizing, valve sizing, pump, compressor, calculations. Support through analysis the design of HVAC systems to include prepare heat and cooling load sizing calculations, fan and duct sizing calculations. Proficient
