Job Description
Seeking a highly motivated Firmware Engineering Manager (MG1) to lead a team of firmware engineers responsible for the design, development, debugging, and delivery of firmware for HPE server platforms. This role combines technical leadership and people management, with responsibility for driving execution, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and developing engineering talent up to the Principal Engineer level.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Delivery Leadership Lead end-to-end execution of firmware development for server platforms Oversee architecture design and feature development, system bring-up, integration, and validation, debugging and root cause analysis across hardware/firmware interactions Drive resolution of complex issues spanning CPU, memory, PCIe, and platform-level subsystems, and silicon, board, and system-level interactions Ensure firmware quality, performance, and compliance with platform requirements Partner with cross-functional teams (hardware, silicon vendors, validation, manufacturing, and OS teams) and customers People Management Manage a team of engineers (entry level through Principal Engineer) Set clear expectations for deliverables, quality standards, and execution timelines Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development conversations Build a strong talent pipeline and succession planning capability Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement Execution & Program Management Translate product and platform requirements into actionable firmware plans Track and manage delivery across multiple concurrent programs Identify risks early and drive mitigation plans Ensure alignment with overall platform schedules and release milestones Drive operational excellence across firmware development processes Collaboration & Influence Work closely with senior technical leaders and architects on firmware strategy Collaborate across global teams to ensure alignment and execution continuity Represent firmware engineering in cross-functional program discussions Communicate status, risks, and technical insights clearly to stakeholders Education and Experience Required: First level university degree or equivalent experience required. May have advanced university degree. Typically 5 or more years of related work experience, including 0-2 years of people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication skills (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills Previous people management experience (or strong technical lead transitioning to management) Experience with server platforms, x86 architecture, and enterprise systems Familiarity with industry standards (BIOS/UEFI, ACPI, PCIe, SMBIOS, etc.) Experience working with silicon vendors (Intel/AMD) and ODM partners Strong understanding of firmware development lifecycle and release processes Prior experience leading technical projects or small teams What We Can Offer You: Health & Wellbeing We strive to provide our team members and their loved ones with a
