The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team is the backbone of AWS, supporting the rapid growth of AWS business and customers 24x7. We commit to maintain the physical critical facility infrastructure of AWS and ensure the standards for operational performance in the areas of safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency and cost. Key job responsibilities • Act as interface with the Colocation provider's technical and facility teams to address day-to-day operational requirements • Act as interface with on-site Colocation providers and respective contractors to ensure all work performed complies with established practices, procedures & local legislation • Monitor Colocation suppliers conducting routine maintenance, and respond to emergency services for critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc. • Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for Data Center facility • Engage in non-office on-call responsibilities and respond promptly to emergency situations or incidents, such as power failures or natural disasters; review and refine the established Emergency Operations Procedures to effectively handle these situations • Work with Colocation provider and contractors to resolve infrastructure engineering issues and conduct root cause analysis for operational issues • Participate in improvements to enhance data center safety, security and availability • Facilitate rack installation and conduct rack space, power/cooling assessments A day in the life Also expected from the EOT is the ability to execute small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion. These projects involve moderate amounts of independent work as well as collaboration with external support groups including engineering, automation, processing, and finance in controlled environments. The EOT will be tasked with creating and delivering on key milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for all necessary costs, and documenting project results. The goals of such projects are to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
