Position
Summary This position supports new product development, product improvements, and current products engineering activities through the design, development, testing, and documentation of mechanical systems and components. Working as part of a cross-functional product development team, this position contributes to engineering projects from concept through production by creating innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives. This position develops technical expertise while gaining experience with Toro product development processes, engineering standards, manufacturing methods, and project execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop component and system-level designs for new products, product enhancements, and cost-reduction initiatives. Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and related product documentation. Perform engineering analysis, feasibility studies, prototype evaluations, and design validation activities to support product development. Collaborate with product evaluation, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, service, marketing, and supplier teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, durability, safety, and manufacturability requirements. Work closely with Product Development Lab personnel in the creation of prototype components, assemblies, and machines. Support prototype builds, product testing, and troubleshooting activities while documenting findings and implementing design improvements. Research materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies to enhance product performance and value. Assist in resolving product quality issues and implementing continuous improvement opportunities for existing products. Ensure engineering documentation is completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company standards and product lifecycle management (PLM) requirements. Participate in project reviews and contribute to meeting project schedules, cost targets, and technical objectives. Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles and engineering best practices throughout the product development process. Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support component development, sourcing activities, and production readiness. Maintain compliance with Toro engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry safety standards.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 0–3 years of engineering experience in product development, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related technical fields. Experience using 3D CAD software for product design and engineering documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a team-oriented environment. Preferred Experience with Creo or similar 3D CAD platforms. Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, BOM
