Responsibilities
Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, and the Adult population. In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well. Wellstone is currently searching for a dependable Milieu Specialist (Lead Tech.) https://www.wellstonehospital.com. The Milieu Specialist will have responsibility for the development and implementation of the therapeutic milieu within the Acute Psychiatric Services unit. To ensure safety and consistency in treating the patients, the Milieu Specialist will have the responsibility of encouraging the team approach to therapeutic interventions. In consultation with the Nurse Managers, Director of Clinical Services, and the Chief Nursing Officer they will assist the Nurse Supervisors in the monitoring of unit activities and daily duties assigned to the Mental Health Technicians The role of the Milieu Specialist is that of a resource to the members of the interdisciplinary treatment team with a goal of fostering a therapeutic milieu that encourages the achievement of treatment goals. This might include assistance with the direct care and management of the patients; the provision of supervision, safety, and crisis management for the patient population; the completion of documentation of patient behavior and participation in programming; the adherence to the scheduled activities; role modeling positive, mature behavior; utilizing positive behavioral strategies to minimize patient crisis and maximize success; etc.
Qualifications
Duties: Assists in the implementation of the treatment plan for each resident. Assists in providing safe delivery of care to meet the goals and objectives of each patient’s plan of care. Assists with the milieu to guide the development of acceptable habits and attitudes by consistently and fairly implementing the behavioral program, emphasizing good choices, and positive interactions. Make facility rounds continuously; stay visual in all areas on the unit. Completes documentation regarding patient supervision, behaviors, and participation in the program in a timely manner, with professional entries. Ensure all room searches and safety and security checklists are completed. Ensure pat downs are completed and documented. Responds to crisis situations and manages resident behaviors in accordance with the Behavioral Management Program, demonstrating effective ability to de- escalate a client in the crisis cycle. Notify Nursing Supervisor, Nurse Manager and maintenance of all facility issues or property destruction. Demonstrates leadership roles and responsibilities exhibited by role modeling professionalism, positive attitude and constructive criticism to MHT staff. Meets with the Nursing Supervisor at the beginning of every shift and coordinates MHT assignments and plans lunch break reliefs. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
