Job Summary
The Nuclear Project QC Engineer is responsible for preparation of ITP referring to applicable ASME codes, customer specification. Ensuring that pumps supplied for nuclear projects meet all applicable quality, regulatory, customer, and project requirements. The role supports inspection, documentation, verification, traceability, and nonconformance control throughout the project lifecycle, from order entry through final shipment. The position requires close coordination with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Customers to ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Review contract, customer, code, and project quality requirements for nuclear pump orders. Develop inspection and test plans (ITPs) for nuclear projects for pumps. Interpret customer quality requirements and ensure they are fully incorporated into ITPs, quality plans, and inspection documentation. Support receiving inspection, in-process, final, and witness inspections as required. Verify material traceability, certification, and product identification. Review and approve quality records, MDRs / data books, and turnover packages. Ensure compliance with applicable nuclear quality standards and project specifications and maintain necessary documents as per ITP. Interface with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and third-party inspectors. Manage nonconformance reports, corrective actions, and concession / deviation processes. Support vendor surveillance and sub-supplier quality control activities. Confirm calibration status of gauges, tools, and test equipment used on the project. Monitor weld, machining, assembly, testing, and preservation activities where applicable. Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and ready for customer / regulatory review.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. 3–7 years of experience in Quality, Inspection, or ITP preparation, preferably in pump manufacturing or rotating equipment industry. Experience in ASME Sec III is preferred. Required Skills & Experience Strong knowledge of API 610 pumps, pump components, and auxiliary systems. Strong knowledge of ASME Sec III. Good understanding of inspection and testing requirements for castings, forgings, machined parts, fabricated parts, and assembled pumps. Experience in preparation of ITPs, quality plans, inspection procedures. Experience in inspection, handling customer witness and customer audits. Knowledge of customer specifications, project quality requirements, and document review processes. Familiarity with material certification requirements such as EN 10204 3.1 & 3.2 Knowledge of NDE methods such as VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT. Good understanding of welding, heat treatment, hydro testing, performance testing, and final inspection requirements. Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as API 610, ASME Sections V, VIII, IX, ASTM, and other relevant international standards. Exposure to supplier quality requirements and procurement quality flow-down. Ability to identify gaps between customer requirements and internal/project documentation. Proficiency in root cause analysis, CAPA, and quality improvement methods. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting. Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to ISO 9001 quality management systems. Exposure to ISO19443 or ASME NQA-1 or QSC is added advantage. Experience in handling customer inspections and third-party inspections. Knowledge of ERP or project documentation systems used in manufacturing. environments.
