About this role
The Role
This role leads communications for Block's lending and financial access initiatives across our core businesses, including Square, Cash App, and Square Financial Services. You'll own the communications strategy that connects our lending, banking, and broader financial institution initiatives into a cohesive corporate narrative, helping explain how Block is expanding access to financial tools for consumers and small businesses.
Working closely with leaders across Square Financial Services, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, Product, and Communications, you'll develop executive narratives, thought leadership, and proactive storytelling that strengthens Block's reputation while supporting business growth. You'll help ensure Block communicates with a clear, consistent, and trusted voice as we continue building the future of financial access.
You Will
• Own communications strategy for Block's lending and financial access initiatives across Square, Cash App, and Square Financial Services.
• Develop a cohesive corporate narrative that connects lending, banking, and financial institution initiatives across Block beyond individual product announcements.
• Partner closely with Square Financial Services, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, Product, and business teams to develop communications strategies, executive messaging, and thought leadership.
• Build creative storytelling campaigns that demonstrate how Block is expanding access to financial tools for consumers and small businesses.
• Create and manage an always-on communications program featuring customer and seller stories that highlight how Block's lending and financial products help businesses grow, improve cash flow, and expand access to capital.
• Support executive communications, media engagement, speaking opportunities, and key business milestones.
• Partner across Corporate Communications to ensure lending and financial access narratives are consistently reflected across Block's external storytelling.
You Have
• Experience in corporate communications, financial services communications, fintech, or another complex, regulated industry.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex financial products, lending strategies, and business initiatives into clear, compelling narratives.
• Experience developing proactive communications strategies that strengthen corporate reputation and support business growth.
• Strong executive communications experience, including developing messaging, thought leadership, and media strategies.
• Excellent cross-functional partnership skills, with experience working closely with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Product, and business leaders.
• Experience managing media relationships and identifying opportunities to tell proactive business stories.
• Strong judgment and the ability to navigate complex or high-profile communications moments.
• A builder's mindset. You enjoy creating new narratives, developing communications programs, and improving how stories are told across an organization.
