Job Overview Seeking a seasoned Test Engineering Manager to lead and scale our global test engineering teams responsible for validating mission-critical power grid automation and substation communication systems. In this role, you will own the end-to-end test strategy, build high-performing geographically distributed teams, and drive quality excellence across hardware, firmware, and software releases that underpin electrical grid reliability. This is a high-impact leadership position at the intersection of power systems engineering, telecommunications, and advanced test methodologies. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, System Engineers, Firmware, Hardware and Software Development teams and Field Engineering teams to ensure that deliverables meet the most demanding industry standards. This is a managerial-level position with at least 4-6 direct reports . #LI-CH1 A Day In The Life Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and grow a globally distributed team of test engineers, senior test engineers, and team leads across multiple time zones and geographies. Define team structure, headcount plans, and hiring roadmaps to meet project demands and organizational scale goals. Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and cross-site collaboration. Conduct regular performance reviews, career development conversations, and succession planning for critical roles. Partner with site leads to harmonize test practices across regional hubs (e.g., North America, Europe, India). Test Strategy, Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration Define and own the comprehensive test strategy for the UA business including Integration Testing, Regression Testing, Smoke Testing, Compliance Testing and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Actively participate in Requirements Gathering, Requirements decomposition process to develop robust and holistic test plans. Closely work with Product Management and Product Engineering teams to improve weak user stories, weak requirements and vague acceptance criteria. Establish and govern quality gates throughout the product development lifecycle, from requirement validation to field deployment. Champion a shift-left testing philosophy, embedding test activities earlier in the development cycle to reduce cost and cycle time. Drive automation-first approaches for regression, protocol conformance, and performance test suites. Oversee test coverage metrics, defect escape analysis, and root cause investigations to continuously improve test effectiveness. Act as the primary interface of the Testing team for the Product Management, Systems engineering, Hardware, Firmware and Software development teams. Represent test engineering in program reviews, DVR (Design Validation Review) meetings. Communicate test status, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership with clarity and data-driven precision. What will help you thrive in this role? Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Electronics, or a closely related discipline. 10+ years of professional experience in Test Engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role overseeing multi-site or global teams. Deep domain-expertise in Power Grid Automation and Substation Communication Systems. Hands-on experience with engineering tools and test equipment. Proven track record of designing and scaling test automation frameworks for complex, safety-critical embedded or networked systems. Strong understanding of communication protocols: IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-10x, TCP/UDP, IEEE 1588/PTP. Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and develop talent across geographically distributed engineering organizations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to present complex technical topics to executive teams and to internal and external customers. Desired Qualifications:
