About this role
Our mission at Ello is simple and urgent: maximize the potential of every child, everywhere. We're building the world's first AI teacher to close that gap: one that listens, speaks, adapts, and inspires, just like the best human educators. Our first product, Read with Ello, is already helping tens of thousands of kids each week learn to read. It listens as they read aloud, offers support when they stumble, and generates magical, personalized stories. It works, and kids love it. Now, we're scaling that success into something even bigger: a complete AI teacher that can help children learn far beyond reading. Our new app combines language, speech, and memory to deliver interactive learning for kids worldwide; check it out here . We're moving fast: we ship weekly, test directly with kids, and push the boundaries of what's possible with AI in education. With the resources of the world's top investors and the heart of a public benefit corporation, we're here to revolutionize how children learn globally. Featured on TIME's Best Inventions and Fortune's Change the World, Ello is a small, mission-driven team taking on one of the most important challenges of our time: to democratize education.
About the Role
This role sits at the intersection of AI creative production and learning design. You'll take a lesson objective and outline from our curriculum team and turn it into images, animations, and short videos that make a lesson feel alive for a 4-8 year old — using the fastest-moving AI generation tools available today. We're looking for a full-time contractor with at least 30 hours/week available. This isn't a “receive a brief, execute it” role. You'll build the pipelines that let us generate this content fast without sacrificing quality, and you'll partner directly with a subject matter expert to shape activities that actually teach, not just entertain. We're building from the ground up, so you'll be defining what “AI-generated learning content” looks like at Ello as much as producing it.
What You'll Do
Create high-quality images, animations, and video clips using AI tools (Midjourney, Sora, Veo, RunwayML, Stable Diffusion, Magnific, Suno, ChatGPT, etc.) Build and refine pipelines to generate assets at a fast pace without sacrificing quality Edit and assemble AI-generated content into polished, final videos ready to ship into a lesson Design scalable visual and interactive patterns that map to the skillset our AI tutor actually has available Take a lesson objective and outline and turn it into engaging images and short videos that hit the mark Partner with a subject matter expert to design learning activities for kids that balance challenge, fun, and real-world relevance Key Requirements You're an expert in AI video, image, and audio generation tools (Midjourney, Sora, Veo, RunwayML, Stable Diffusion, Magnific, Suno, ChatGPT, etc.), and you're quick to pick up new ones as they ship You have a strong design sensibility and effectively leverage AI tools to bring your vision to life You have a portfolio that shows you can turn a rough idea into something visually compelling — AI-generated or otherwise, education-related or not You have a real, specific way AI tools have changed how you work — not just "I use AI sometimes," but a workflow or pipeline you've built or adopted recently and what it changed You're energized by zero-to-one environments, iterating quickly based on real product feedback rather than a finished spec You're self-directed and collaborative — you can take a lesson objective and figure out the rest Nice to Have Experience with traditional video editing software (Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or similar) Background in math, early literacy, ESL, or bilingual education Content creation experience (social platforms, children's media) with a track record of strong engagement Familiarity with instructional design or child development principles Experience teaching or working directly with kids
