Job Description
This position is within TD Securities' Canadian Debt Capital Markets ("DCM") team and will focus on Financial Institution Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets origination. The DCM team delivers innovative financing solutions through deep understanding fixed income markets and provides bond underwriting, bond and debt arrangement, financial advisory, ratings advisory and inaugural issuance advisory services to its investment grade financial institution clients.
Job Description
The Analyst will focus primarily on building client presentations, covering: financial markets, capital structures, credit ratings, liability management, and other DCM related advisory materials. The role will also involve execution support to senior team members on Canadian investment grade offerings in the FIG sector. The candidate will be reliable and take personal responsibility for the tasks they undertake, working to solve problems independently and taking pride in their success. The candidate will possess experience building models in excel, proficiency with PowerPoint, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Analytical skills are critical for performing credit analysis and reviewing legal documents (prospectuses, offering memorandums, bond indentures, credit agreements, etc.). The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, eager to learn, show initiative in getting ahead of the workload, while being efficient with their time and detail-oriented in their work. The candidate should also have a clearly defined interest in DCM. A collegial and team-oriented view of success is very important to allow the candidate to fit into the team. The candidate will be comfortable supporting senior team members, while building knowledge and skills that will eventually allow them to develop relationships with existing and potential corporate clients and institutional investors. While the base skills and tasks used each day tend to be similar, due to the varied types of issuers covered and transactions executed, no two days are alike. Candidates need to be flexible and able to adapt as the nature of the work changes. Job Requirements / Qualifications: Recent graduate or professional with experience in debt capital markets, investment banking, leveraged finance, private credit, corporate banking, or a related field An undergraduate or graduate degree from a university with a focus on business, finance, accounting, or investment analysis; MBA, CFA, CPA or other meaningful business designation is a plus Ability to meet tight timelines and operate in a highly complex and demanding work environment An understanding of accounting, business valuation and solid financial modelling skills Understanding public and private debt transactions, including legal documents, ratings, covenants, terms, etc. considered an asset Relationship building skills as the role intersects with multiple teams across the bank (investment banking, equity capital markets, corporate credit, M&A, etc.) and
