Job Title Tech Lead, Software Development Engineering(Java, Spring, Microservices, API) What does a successful Senior Developer do at Fiserv? A successful Observability Tech Lead designs, develops, and operates enterprise grade observability platforms and capabilities that provide deep visibility into application, infrastructure, and business performance. They build and enhance metrics, logs, traces, events, and topology intelligence using platforms such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry, ELK, or Splunk. They work within agile delivery teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and compliant observability solutions, enabling faster detection, root cause analysis, and remediation of production issues. They actively adopt AI assisted engineering to accelerate development, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational insights.
What You Will Do
Contribute significantly to designing, implementing, enhancing, and documenting observability solutions using tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, or Splunk. Develop and maintain end to end telemetry pipelines for metrics, distributed traces, logs, and events across applications, microservices, and infrastructure. Work within an agile delivery framework to deliver accurate estimates and high quality deliverables for observability and reliability initiatives. Support architectural direction, technical design, and end to end delivery of observability platforms, APIs, and integrations. Enable distributed tracing, service dependency mapping, and topology visualization for microservices and cloud native applications. Design and maintain alerting, SLI/SLO, and error budget frameworks aligned with SRE best practices. Leverage AI driven analytics (e.g., anomaly detection, noise reduction, automatic root cause analysis) to improve operational efficiency. Participate in full lifecycle development, including unit testing, system integration, performance validation, and production readiness. Contribute to IaC driven and pipeline based automation for observability configuration and onboarding. Use AI assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise) for configuration generation, dashboard creation, log analysis, and troubleshooting. Provide guidance, knowledge transfer, and enablement to internal teams on observability concepts, instrumentation standards, and best practices. Partner with developers, architects, SREs, and platform teams to identify gaps in visibility and translate reliability goals into technical solutions. Support production services through monitoring, debugging, incident response, post incident analysis, and continuous improvement. What You Need to Have 10+ years of experience in software development and platform engineering across all phases of the SDLC. Strong hands on experience with observability and monitoring platforms (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or similar). Solid expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Actuator, Spring Integration). Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and OpenAPI specifications. Hands on experience with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, metrics instrumentation, and log correlation. Experience designing alerting strategies, SLOs/SLIs, and incident response workflows. Familiarity with CI/CD, build, and deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Sonar, Fortify, JIRA, and Confluence. Strong SQL knowledge and
