The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Procurement Specialist I, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Adapts differing techniques and methods to deal with variations in work conditions and operations to solve complex problems. Leads the development and implementation of improvements and/or solutions to work processes and tools. Makes recommendations that impact how financial resources are generated or spent. Initiates actions and leads or coaches' employees during a project or trains/mentors' new employees within sourcing areas such as raw materials, supplies, equipment, services, process/transactional, etc. When leading projects, accountable for the activities and outcomes of the project team. Handles a wide variety of non-routine and difficult inquiries where the solution is not immediately apparent. Most complex problem solving may require developing solutions for complex and diverse issues that may be interrelated, requiring significant interpretation and the use of strong analytical skills. Work tasks encompass concepts within multiple disciplines/practices which may include more than one department/location. May include oversees the development, negotiation, and implementation of commodity strategies and/or supplier contracts including specifications and quality standards in order to obtain the best total value for 3M. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) Five (5) years of procurement experience in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Master's degree in supply chain from an accredited institution Seven (7) years of Procurement experience in a private, public, government or military environment Skills include strong negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, prioritization, multi-task, storytelling, influencing. Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN. Travel: May include up to 10% domestic.
