Pratt & Whitney Puerto Rico (PWPR) Auxiliary Power Units (APU) Engineering is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to support APU and Turbojet (TJ) programs across Pratt & Whitney. The PWPR APU Engineering team provides Project Engineering, Design Engineering, and Product Definition services for APU and TJ products in military and commercial programs across all lifecycle phases, from Development through Production and Sustainment. Additionally, the PWPR APU Engineering team supports these engineering services for all hardware within the APU and TJ programs, exposing our engineers to all types of hardware. As a Senior Design Engineer on our team, you will be involved in various design activities related to APU and TJ programs for military and commercial applications. The Senior Design Engineer provides advanced engineering judgment for quality notifications, supplier technical inquiries, producibility investigations, and engineering change activity. Additionally, the engineer will mentor early career engineers, and contribute to improving product robustness, manufacturability, and lifecycle performance. This role is a great opportunity to join a highly collaborative and fast-paced engineering environment where your ideas can have real influence on hardware decisions and solve production issues. If you’re looking for a place where engineers are empowered, cross functional learning is encouraged, and innovation directly impacts our company’s ability to meet customer requirements, we’d love to have you on board.  Lead the support APU/TJ Supply Chain activities by analyzing and dispositioning Quality Notifications (QNs), responding to Electronic Supplier Requests for Information (eSRI), providing engineering support to supplier transitions, executing hardware Engineering Changes to improve quality, cost, and producibility metrics.   Coaching and reviewing the work of P1/P2 engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.   Perform Computer-Aided Design (CAD) functions to manipulate and create 2D geometries, 3D models, and 3D assemblies to meet fit, form, and function requirements and support engineering documentation.  Interpret and define tolerances and features in part drawings. Lead efforts to develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor.      Perform advanced engineering analyses such as structural assessments, thermal evaluations, tolerance stack‑ups, and other calculations required to support design decisions.    Lead escape investigations, identifying root causes and execute implementation of corrective actions and design enhancements.
