Job Description
This role is responsible for leading the global income tax reporting function, including quarterly and annual tax provision processes, financial statement disclosures, and related compliance across the Arch group. The position oversees global tax consolidation (including 10-K reporting) and ensures the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of tax reporting across all jurisdictions. The Director partners closely with Finance leadership, business units, and external advisors to manage tax reporting, evaluate the impact of global tax developments, and support strategic business initiatives. This role is hybrid, with two days in the White Plains, NY or Greensboro, NC office and three days remote.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the global income tax provision (ASC 740), including quarterly and annual reporting, consolidation, and financial statement disclosures Oversee external tax reporting included in 10-K / 10-Q and statutory reports Coordinate global tax reporting across U.S. and international entities Evaluate impact of global tax developments (e.g., Pillar Two, Bermuda tax changes) Own tax-related SOX controls and interface with internal and external auditors Partner on non-routine transactions and document tax provision implications Support tax audits and inquiries, including IRS audits Drive process improvements and automation initiatives Support tax planning and modeling, including forecasting and scenario analysis Provide leadership and development support to the tax team Qualifications 7-10+ years of tax accounting and reporting experience in public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm) and/or industry; insurance industry experience is a plus but not required Strong ASC 740 tax provision experience, including effective tax rate analysis and income tax disclosures Experience with global tax reporting, consolidation, and multi-jurisdictional operations Ability to evaluate and document the tax accounting implications of global tax developments, non-routine transactions, and strategic business initiatives Experience with tax-related SOX controls and working with internal and external auditors Experience supporting tax audits and inquiries, including IRS examinations Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and organizational skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with tax provision, reporting, and compliance software Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Experience leading, developing, and mentoring team members For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible. For White Plains $130,000 - $175,000/year For Greensboro $100,700 - $150,000/year Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
