Position Summary
Under direct supervision from the Conversions Manager, this Conversions Crew position will perform oversight of daily operations of assigned set-ups/teardowns and provide operational coverage for all scheduled events. The Conversions Crew's duties also include assisting other departments as needed and the maintenance and proper use of all operational equipment within and around the University of Houston campus. This role pays an hourly rate of $17.00-$19.00 Benefits for Full-Time roles: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching, and Paid Time Off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays) This position will remain open until October 23, 2026.
About the Venue
This position will support the University of Houston Athletics Department's goal of providing operational excellence through consistent, cost-effective, and reliable service. This position performs work that involves setup, teardown, and support of all associated areas defined by the Athletics Department.
Responsibilities
Set / strike equipment (Bike racks, barricades, tables, chairs, staging/risers, pipe & drape, etc.) according to pre-determined floor plans for events in an efficient, timely, accurate and professional manner Set / strike to include the manual movement of equipment throughout the campus from storage areas to event spaces and back to storage Review weekly work assignments with the Conversions Manager Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients Perform customary Housekeeping / Janitorial duties when necessary Work with preventative maintenance plans created by the Conversions Manager to maintain cleanliness, appearance, and safety Operate an assortment of equipment, including forklift, high-lifts, vacuums, pressure washer and other vehicles as required Work from general instructions and specifications Read and interpret paperwork regarding event specifications Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) workdays and extended numbers of days Report defective equipment, facility damage, areas of the campus requiring cleaning and incorrect or improper set-ups to supervisors in a timely manner
Qualifications
Previous experience with venue conversion is a plus. Strong understanding of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions Strong understanding of applicable safety rules & procedures and Customer Service practices Ability to work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal to no supervision Able to oversee assigned duties and safe use of a wide variety of equipment Must
