Job Function: Supply Chain Engineering Job Sub Function: Manufacturing Engineering Job Category: People Leader All Job Posting Locations: Limerick, Ireland Job Description: Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Limerick The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead a high-performing technical engineering team responsible for sustaining, improving, and optimising complex automated manufacturing equipment, systems, and processes in a high-volume Medical Device manufacturing environment. This role provides an excellent opportunity to influence manufacturing performance in a highly automated, regulated production setting, while developing engineering talent and delivering meaningful improvements in safety, equipment reliability, process capability, compliance, cost, yield, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will set the technical direction for the team, align engineering priorities with site and business objectives, and ensure effective execution of production support, automation improvement projects, validation activities, safety risk reduction initiatives, change control, and compliance deliverables. Working closely with Operations, Quality, Process Engineering, Automation, Maintenance, EHS, and external partners, the role will play a key part in driving safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective performance across high-speed, automated Medical Device manufacturing lines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, develop, coach, and mentor a capable manufacturing engineering team with strong ownership of technical performance, automation reliability, compliance, and business results. Champion a strong safety-first culture by ensuring engineering decisions, equipment changes, troubleshooting activities, and project execution consistently protect people, product, and process integrity. Partner with EHS, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Automation teams to identify, assess, and reduce safety risks associated with automated equipment, process changes, maintenance activities, and high-volume manufacturing operations. Prioritise engineering resources across production support, technical investigations, safety improvements, automated equipment reliability, process improvements, validation support, and business-critical projects. Provide leadership and technical guidance for complex manufacturing and automation issues, ensuring effective root cause analysis, practical problem solving, and sustainable corrective and preventive actions. Drive improvements in automated equipment performance, yield, uptime, process capability, cost, utility usage, and overall manufacturing efficiency across high-volume production lines. Lead and sponsor technical initiatives, automation upgrades, equipment lifecycle improvements, engineering standards, safety improvements, and systems optimisation activities that strengthen Medical Device manufacturing capability.
