About this role
Reimagine the infrastructure of cancer care within a community that values integrity, inspires growth, and is uniquely positioned to create a more modern, connected oncology ecosystem.
We’re looking for a biomedical informatician specializing in clinical genomics to join our Health Informatics team and help us accomplish our mission to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. Are you ready to be the next changemaker in cancer care?
What You'll Do
In this role, you'll be responsible for helping design, build, and grow our clinical genomic data platform to receive, normalize, and manage genetic and genomic test results from different laboratories. You will sit on the Health Informatics (HI) team. The HI team serves to promote and enable consistent informatics best practices across Flatiron Health products. This role specifically will serve on Flatiron’s Precision Medicine team to build and improve genomic data processing. Your contributions will prioritize retention of genomic data integrity while enabling many use cases across Flatiron’s clinical products (OncoEMR, Flatiron Assist, etc.). In addition, you will:
• Enable scientifically sound use of genomic data in new and existing use cases through deep knowledge of the data, effective information gathering, clear documentation, and relevant data investigations.
• Enable efficient, accurate, and impactful collection of genomic data through innovative use of technology, effective collaboration, and clear processes
• Facilitate the integration of logical data models into complex EHR workflows through collaboration with a diverse and interdisciplinary team of engineers, clinicians, product managers, and designers.
• Drive the development of logical data models that power Flatiron’s suite of Community Oncology facing products
• Utilize industry best practices to encode healthcare data to ensure interoperability of data elements
Who You Are
You are a biomedical informatician with a deep understanding of genomic data and logical data modeling. You have a scientific background (such as biology, genetics, or molecular biology) with robust technical skills. You are able to drive progress in a rapidly evolving field, and contribute to the adoption and development of best practices for creating and maintaining high-quality and high-integrity data. You are driven by curiosity and have a passion for advancing the impact of clinical genomics to make the right data available at the right time. You are a kind and collaborative individual. In addition:
• You have an advanced degree (Masters, PhD preferred) in bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, molecular biology or a related field.
• You have strong experience with genomic standards, file formats, and nomenclature (HGNC, HGVS, file formats - vcf, gvcf, bed)
• You have familiarity with clinical oncology genomic profiling tests, the testing process, and the result data and information generated.
• You have experience working cross-functionally and communicating complex genomic information to non-scientific stakeholders.
• You have SQL or cloud data warehouse experience.
Extra Credit
• You have experience collaborating with molecular profiling labs
• You have demonstrated experience with a coding language (Python, R, etc)
• You can identify the utility of genomic information in clinical use cases and articulate the data elements required to support them (i.e. clinical decision support)
• You possess a strong background in oncology data and use of genomic data in the context of oncology
• You are familiar with standard medical terminologies (SNOMED, ICD-10, LOINC)
• You have participated in industry genomic and informatics groups
