Role Overview The Senior Category Manager – Walmart is a critical strategic role responsible for leading a team that translates data, shopper behavior, and category dynamics into actionable insights that drive growth for both the organization and Walmart. Experience leading the modular relay process is a benefit. This role serves as a trusted intelligence resource for Walmart merchants and internal sales teams , delivering fact-based recommendations that influence assortment, shelving, pricing, and category strategy. Positioned at the intersection of category management, analytics, and sales , this individual and their team play a key role in shaping retailer decisions and ensuring alignment to Walmart’s shopper-first mindset and business priorities.
Key Responsibilities 1. Category & Shopper Insights Leadership
Analyze POS, market, and shopper data to uncover category trends, risks, and opportunities Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable stories for internal stakeholders and Walmart merchants Develop retailer-specific insights that support category growth platforms and innovation decisions
2. Retailer Influence & Advisory
Serve as a key category partner to Walmart , providing objective, fact-based recommendations Influence Planogram (POG), assortment, and shelving decisions through data-driven insights Support and participate in line reviews, business updates, and strategic category discussions
3. Assortment, Modular & Shelf Strategy
Lead development of assortment recommendations and modular strategies that optimize space-to-sales productivity Provide guidance on category segmentation, pricing tiers, and productivity analysis Deliver insights that improve in-store execution and shopper navigation
4. Sales Enablement & Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner closely with Sales to build compelling category stories and selling materials Support key customer meetings (line reviews, business plans, innovation launches) Collaborate with Brand, Marketing, and Digital teams to align category strategies across channels
5. Data & Analytics Excellence
Leverage multiple data sources (e.g., Circana, Walmart Scintilla, internal tools) to deliver insights Create and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reporting that drive decision-making Ensure consistency, accuracy, and governance of category metrics and reporting outputs
6. Proactive Opportunity Identification
Identify emerging shopper trends, competitive threats, and whitespace opportunities Deliver forward-looking recommendations (pricing, innovation, distribution, promotion) Lead test-and-learn initiatives to validate strategies and scale successful changes

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Marketing, or related field 7+ years of experience in Category Management, Insights, or Analytics (CPG preferred) Strong experience working with Walmart data
