About this role
Amazon Private Brands (APB) is Amazon's portfolio of owned and exclusive brands — spanning everyday essentials, consumables, and hardlines — developed and sold directly on Amazon. APB Finance is a high-visibility, fast-paced team operating at the intersection of retail economics, pricing science, and strategic planning for a multi-billion dollar global business. As a Senior Financial Analyst on the APB Finance team, you will own two of the team's most consequential operating mechanisms: OpEx planning and controllership for the APB org, and the Goals mechanism — APB's primary framework for translating business strategy into measurable, tracked outcomes. You will also play an active role in month-end close reporting alongside the reporting lead, and contribute to a team-wide effort to automate, simplify, and embed AI into APB Finance's core FP&A mechanisms. You will be a single-threaded owner across your workstreams — expected to identify gaps, build the infrastructure to close them, and continuously raise the bar on how the team operates. Key job responsibilities - Own APB OpEx end-to-end — maintain the org's operating expense plan, track actuals vs. plan monthly and quarterly, perform variance analysis, and surface insights that drive cost discipline and investment decisions - Run the APB Goals mechanism — own the cadence, tracking infrastructure, and reporting for APB's org-level goals; partner with business and finance leads to ensure goals are well-defined, measurable, and progressing against plan - Support month-end close reporting — partner with the reporting lead to produce accurate, timely month-end financial outputs; own specific reporting deliverables within the close cycle and ensure commentary is crisp and insight-driven - Support operating plan cycles (OP1/OP2) — build bottoms-up OpEx models, synthesize inputs across functions, and produce leadership-ready outputs for planning reviews - Drive continuous improvement — proactively identify manual, repetitive, or low-value processes within APB Finance's FP&A mechanisms and lead projects to automate, simplify, or replace them with AI-driven tools - Build scalable reporting mechanisms — design and maintain dashboards, trackers, and automated analytics that improve visibility and reduce manual effort across the team - Drive financial controllership — ensure accuracy and internal consistency across OpEx and close reporting; identify and resolve discrepancies proactively before they reach leadership - Partner cross-functionally — work with HR, recruiting, and business ops to align headcount plans with financial targets; translate operational inputs into financial outputs - Contribute to WBR, MBR, QBR, and other leadership reviews — prepare OpEx and goals-related inputs for APB's senior-facing operating rhythm
