Director, Business Development Actuary

A Brief Overview A core member of the Business Development team to lead and drive the growth strategy for RGA in the Hong Kong and High Net Worth Markets.

Act as the primary contact for clients on reinsurance quotations and projects, including establishing regular connections with clients, leading product and solution concept pitches, client meetings, business negotiations, and proposal preparation. Ability to connect and identify with clients’ key-decision-makers to understand clients’ business strategy, business problems, KPIs, financial metrics and capital issues. Ability to communicate client feedback promptly, ensuring deliverables meet client needs, uphold RGA’s service standards, and achieve financial targets; negotiate on behalf of RGA in reinsurance quotations. Good understanding of local marketing landscape, clients’ business strategies, local accounting, capital & solvency, insurance and other relevant regulations. Ability to drive collaboration across internal teams— Pricing, Product Development, Underwriting, Claims, where necessary Administration, Finance and Valuation — to prioritize workflow and deliver on client expectations across all business lines. Build and strengthen senior-level partnerships with target clients, identifying and driving new business opportunities in line with RGA’s strategic directions. Partner with the Head of Business Development to contribute to RGA’s strategic agenda for the Hong Kong & High Net Worth segment. Proactively promote RGA in industry forums and expand RGA’s influences in the insurance industry.

Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related disciplines. required 8+ Years experience in a life insurance (including but not limited to Product Development, Product Pricing, Capital Management, Financial Reporting, etc.), insurance consulting or reinsurance company, experience in product development or pricing will be an advantage. required Highly organized, solutions focused and delivery-orientated with the ability to work with multiple concurrent projects. required Ability to work effectively under pressure. required Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others. required Strong client services ability with excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal). required Strong project management skills and ability to partner with internal & external stakeholders in a collaborative manner. required Strong critical and innovative thinking, with the ability to develop business insights. required FSA qualification or equivalent.
