We’re looking for a Privacy Counsel to join Team Snap! You’ll join a growing team responsible for advising Snap on privacy and AI law and compliance in EMEA. This job allows you to collaborate with members of Product and other legal teams, Employment, Engineering, Design, and other teams throughout the company to support Snap’s strong privacy and AI practices, including its world-class privacy and safety by-design program. What you’ll do: Ensure Snap is advised on privacy and AI laws, focusing especially on laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive, and the EU AI Act, as well as the existing and emerging data protection and AI laws in EMEA  Partner with Snap’s global Policy team to interact with regulators to ensure Snap’s program, policies, and practices to comply with privacy and AI laws are well-understood Anticipate and prepare for data protection and AI law changes in the global regulatory and legislative landscape Support all aspects of creating our compliance strategy with proposed, pending, and new global privacy and AI legislation that could impact the business and recommend any potential or vital modifications to our products and practices Partner with our Product Legal Counsel and our Safety and Law Enforcement Operations Counsel on sophisticated privacy and AI law issues as our products and operations evolve Provide guidance to our ops teams on managing Snap’s and its affiliates’ privacy and AI compliance programs, including data subject access requests Conduct privacy and AI impact assessments Partner with our Commercial Legal team to ensure our contracts and policies are aligned with privacy, security, and AI laws Counsel and work closely with Security teams for security and privacy incident response, and security investigations Advise on global cybersecurity laws, regulations, and frameworks   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Solid experience advising on global privacy and AI issues Good knowledge of global privacy and AI laws, regulations, and industry guidelines for online platforms Social media, adtech, or AI experience is a plus Excellent legal and business judgment and critical thinking Able to communicate with internal and external partners on sophisticated and multifaceted issues Pragmatic, business-friendly, and a great teammate, with an ability to think creatively and accommodate often challenging timelines Able to work independently as well as collaboratively Ability to travel, especially between Snap European offices Minimum qualifications: Qualified, practising solicitor or equivalent with excellent academic credentials 6+ years of experience in an international setting (includes training years) Preferred Qualifications: In-house experience counselling
