Support day to day payment investigations across the end to end lifecycle. Resolve complex ACH inquiries, including exceptions, breaks, and client ‑ impacting issues. As a Payment Lifecycle Specialist IV in the Payment Lifecycle Investigations team, you support the day to day investigation of payments that need extra attention or review. You resolve inquiries related to automated clearing house payments, including complex questions on returns and recalls. You work closely with internal partners and external clients to provide clear, timely updates and outcomes, fostering a collaborative, client ‑ first culture. You help maintain strong controls by handling Job Responsibilities Support day to day payment investigations, focusing on end to end resolution of payment breaks, exceptions, and inquiries. Lead detailed investigations into automated clearing house payments, including research on missing, delayed, duplicate, or misdirected transactions. Manage automated clearing house returns, recalls, and related adjustments in a timely, controlled, and well documented manner. Serve as a subject matter expert on automated clearing house processes, rules, and best practices, providing guidance to team members and partners. Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external clients on complex payment and automated clearing house investigation cases. Analyze investigation trends and root causes to identify control gaps and recommend process or system improvements. Partner with operations, product, technology, and risk teams to resolve issues that impact payment flows or client experience. Ensure all investigations adhere to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and documented procedures. Prepare clear, concise case notes and investigation summaries that support accurate reporting and audit readiness. Contribute to team knowledge sharing by creating and maintaining investigation playbooks, job aids, and reference materials. Support a strong team culture by modeling accountability, collaboration, and client first decision making. Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of hands‑on experience in payment or transaction investigations focused on automated clearing house items. Strong working knowledge of automated clearing house payment flows, returns, recalls, and exception handling. Familiarity with automated clearing house network rules and guidelines, such as National Automated Clearing House Association standards. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to non‑technical audiences. Proven ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and make sound, time‑sensitive decisions. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing transactions and documentation. Ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously while meeting defined turnaround times. Experience in a controlled, procedures‑driven operations or investigation environment. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal partners and external clients. Proficiency using multiple systems and tools to research, document, and resolve investigation cases. Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Experience in a back office operations environment at a foreign or global bank. Experience processing end to end automated clearing house payments, including setup, execution, and exception handling.
