The Opportunity
The Scientist hired in this role will work ion site in Abbott Park, IL. The business Group this role supports: Abbott Diagnostics Transfusion Medicine. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. What You’ll Work On The Scientist hired in this role will execute and conduct research and development. They will also recommend improvements and/or new procedures related to products. In addition, they will plan and present data within team, with supervision. In addition: Run laboratory experiments and tests , analyze results, and help develop or improve testing methods under guidance from senior scientists. Manage multiple projects at once , troubleshoot issues with equipment or experiments, and recommend solutions when problems arise. Write protocols, reports, and documentation , including validation activities, technical summaries, and material requests needed to complete projects. Present findings and collaborate with team members , contributing ideas and supporting project planning and execution. Maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment , ensuring quality standards, equipment maintenance, and regulatory requirements are followed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in biological or physical sciences, or mathematics; with minimum of 2-3 yrs. or M.S. with 0 to 2 years' experience Working knowledge of experimental approaches/protocols and scientific methods such as designing experiments and interpreting data. Awareness of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics Basic computer skills - able to learn new computer programs Preferred Qualifications: Molecular biology knowledge or previous work history. Previous experience with electronic notebook entries and experiment documentation. Prior experience with PCR or related technology. Previous experience with testing protocol execution.
