Summary
The Space Planning/Real Estate Administrator helps ensure APS facilities are used effectively, safely, and strategically to support employees and business operations. This role balances space planning, workplace design, and real estate administration to maximize the value of company-owned and leased properties. By creating efficient work environments, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting sound real estate decisions, this position contributes to APS’s ability to reliably serve customers and communities. What Your Day Would Be Like
Partner with business leaders and teams to understand workspace needs and develop solutions that support productivity, collaboration, and future growth. Analyze facility data and trends to identify opportunities for improved space utilization, occupancy planning, and workplace effectiveness. Ensure office layouts and facility changes meet safety, accessibility, and regulatory requirements, including ADA and OSHA standards. Provide guidance and expertise on space planning standards, workplace design, and facility-related best practices. Manage real estate and property administration activities, helping protect and maximize the value of APS’s leased and owned assets. Conduct research and financial analysis to support real estate decisions, lease administration, facility planning, and property-related initiatives.
Who We’re Looking For
Experience in space planning, interior design, architecture, or a related field, with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex facility challenges. Strong analytical skills with experience using data to establish standards, evaluate trends, and support business decisions. Proficient in various furniture systems for both design purposes and specification of products. Proficiency with workplace planning and facility management technologies such as Excel, AutoCAD, IWMS, ArcGIS Indoors, Meridian, Maximo, CAFM systems, or similar tools.
Emphasis on proficiency with AutoCAD as this position provides support to the department with furniture system and floorplan design concepts for customer socialization as well as block plan support.
Working knowledge and proven experience of real estate administration, lease management, and property-related processes. Understanding of ADA requirements, OSHA regulations, fire and life safety codes, and architectural drawings. A collaborative professional who communicates effectively, builds strong relationships, and balances business needs with long-term strategic goals.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture or other job related field from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years experience in design and/or architecture. In lieu of bachelor's degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in design and/or architecture equaling nine (9) years.
