Air Condition & Refrigeration Technician

POSITION SUMMARY The Air Condition & Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and associated mechanical systems throughout the property. The role supports the Engineering Department by ensuring HVAC and refrigeration equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards while maintaining guest comfort and supporting seamless hotel operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES I. Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Maintenance

Install, inspect, maintain, and repair air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and cooling systems throughout the property. Conduct routine inspections of HVAC equipment, cold rooms, freezers, refrigerators, chillers, and associated components. Diagnose and repair equipment faults, refrigerant leaks, and mechanical failures. Maintain and service guest room, public area, kitchen, and back-of-house air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Support refurbishment, renovation, and engineering projects as required.

II. Work Orders & Inventory

Respond to air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance requests promptly and professionally. Monitor and maintain inventory of HVAC and refrigeration spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies. Order and manage materials through approved purchasing processes. Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.

III. Guest Service & Teamwork

Maintain positive relationships with guests and associates. Minimize disruption to hotel operations while carrying out maintenance work. Coordinate with Engineering and other departments to ensure timely completion of repairs. Maintain clean and organized work areas at all times. Support operational requirements during emergencies and equipment breakdowns.

IV. Safety & Compliance

Follow company safety, security, and maintenance procedures at all times. Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of refrigerants, tools, and equipment. Conduct routine safety checks and operational testing of HVAC and refrigeration systems. Report hazards, accidents, and equipment malfunctions promptly. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, workplace health and safety standards, and company policies. Maintain a professional appearance and comply with company standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, or a related trade. Minimum 2 years of experience in air conditioning, refrigeration systems maintenance, mechanical services, or facilities maintenance. Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, chillers, cold rooms, compressors, and ventilation systems. Experience in hospitality, commercial, industrial, or facilities maintenance environments is advantageous. Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements related to HVAC and refrigeration systems. Ability to read basic technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance documentation. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to safely operate tools, testing equipment, and maintenance machinery. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required. Must have working rights in Fiji.
