Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Health and Safety Site Representative to support a major hydroelectric infrastructure project in the Fredericton region. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong health and safety culture throughout all phases of project execution, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, client requirements, and project-specific safety standards. Working closely with project management, construction teams, contractors, and joint venture partners, the Health and Safety Site Representative will play a key role in supporting safe work practices and fostering continuous improvement in health and safety performance. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and observations to verify compliance with project safety requirements, applicable legislation, and company policies. Promote a proactive health and safety culture through daily engagement with project personnel and contractors. Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Monitor compliance with safe work procedures, permits, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and regulatory obligations, before work begins. Participate in incident, injury, near-miss, and environmental event investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up. Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project-specific health and safety plans, procedures, and programs. Make recommendations to management for incident prevention and safety program activities. Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and procedures. Facilitate or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and awareness campaigns and maintain a strong field presence. Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors, contractors, and workers on safe work practices and hazard mitigation. Participate in resolving workplace refusals and work stoppages. Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, incident documentation, and project statistics. Support project management in achieving health and safety objectives and key performance indicators. Collaborate with client representatives, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Safety, or a related discipline. Minimum 4 years of experience as a HSE representative. Experience supporting health and safety programs on construction, industrial, infrastructure, energy, or heavy civil projects.
