What We Are Looking For

The Loss & Unaccounted For (L&U) Measurement Analyst is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and resolving gas balance discrepancies across gathering, transmission, storage, and related natural gas assets. This role serves as an analyst in gas measurement, allocation, balancing methodologies, and operational analysis to identify the root causes of L&U and drive corrective actions.   The analyst works cross-functionally with Operations, Measurement, Engineering, Commercial, Accounting, and Asset Management teams to improve system performance, measurement accuracy, data integrity, and regulatory compliance. This position requires strong analytical skills, technical knowledge of gas measurement and pipeline operations, and the ability to lead investigations involving complex gas balance issues.   Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.

What You Will Do

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   Gas Balance Analysis & L&U Management • Monitor daily, monthly, and annual gas balance performance across assigned systems. • Perform detailed analysis of Lost and Unaccounted For (L&U) volumes and percentages. • Identify trends, anomalies, and emerging balance issues through data analysis and reporting. • Conduct root cause investigations to determine sources of gain/loss and recommend corrective actions. • Develop and maintain system balancing methodologies and performance metrics. • Track and report progress of L&U improvement initiatives. • Partner with Operations personnel to investigate balancing issues and operational anomalies. • Assess the impact of operational activities, line pack changes, maintenance events, blowdowns, and system constraints on gas balance performance. • Support field investigations and corrective action plans. • Provide recommendations to reduce losses and improve system reliability. • Lead and facilitate L&U review meetings with key stakeholders. • Collaborate with Asset Managers, Engineers, Measurement Specialists, and Operations teams to prioritize and resolve balance issues. • Work with Commercial and Accounting teams to reconcile volume discrepancies. • Support internal audits and management reviews related to gas balancing and measurement activities. • Perform data analysis/audits of physical measured points on Kinder Morgan assets. • Acquire an understanding of the corporation’s primary business models including the business functions of gathering, transporting, and processing of natural gas and liquids. • Notify management of immediate and potential problems affecting the quality and timeliness of measurement data. • Routinely produce grammatically correct reports, summaries, policies, procedures, and memos. • Communicate effectively (written and orally) with team members and internal/external customers. • Organize, schedule, and conduct various meetings as required and accurately document meeting notes and action items.   Measurement & Data Quality • Analyze measurement data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. • Identify and resolve meter configuration, calibration, reporting, and data collection issues. • Review meter performance and investigate abnormal measurement trends. • Coordinate with field measurement personnel to verify, correct, and validate measurement data. • Ensure measurement practices align with industry standards and company procedures. • Evaluate the impact of meter changes, equipment failures, and maintenance activities on gas balance results. • Develop recurring and ad hoc reports to support gas balance monitoring. • Analyze large datasets from SCADA, measurement systems, gas accounting, and operational databases. • Create dashboards, KPIs, and performance scorecards. • Present findings and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. • Utilize statistical and analytical tools to identify opportunities for process improvement. • Work with
