Career opportunity: The Project Manager will support the efficiency of the corrugator operations in the Tennessee River Area, reporting to the Area Vice President. This role will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with internal customers (Sales, Design, etc) and external customers. 50-60% travel to Smurfit Westrock facilities in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi as needed. How you will Impact Smurfit Westrock: Support new technology (including software, hardware and new systems). Be an active participant in the process and assume ultimate training responsibility for team. Support and participate in process improvements as required Direct and participate in launches, special project pricing, project management, and other projects as required Ability to Plan and schedule any installation and startup of new equipment to minimize the disruption of normal operations Develop hands-on knowledge and expertise of production equipment, parts, functions and processes through observation and engaging with employees on the production floor Communicate with production team and maintenance staff to resolve chronic and repeat failures with equipment, provide status updates on maintenance efforts, and gather feedback on operations and maintenance support needed Partner with training resources to maintain detailed, structured on-the-job training manuals for department tasks and jobs Participate in production meetings with General Manager, Maintenance Manager, Operations Managers, and Schedulers to review weekly scheduling, and outage planning. Support and foster a culture of safety and environmental compliance What you need to succeed: A High School diploma or G.E.D. is required; An Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing industry in operations, with experience in corrugated container plants is required Previous Continuous Improvement and/or Project Management experience is required. Direct Supervisory or management experience is preferred; experience in a functional role influencing others is required. Working knowledge of corrugated manufacturing equipment, processes, and language is required Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word etc. Critical Skills / Capabilities: Analytical: Demonstrate a general understanding of various sources of information or data that are relevant to the business; summarizes or integrates information for routine problems or issues with oversight from others as necessary Adaptability: Demonstrates agility, flexibility, and a willingness to modify one’s approach to achieve desired results; responds quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated information Organizational Skills: Plan, prioritize and/or monitor work to ensure achievement of desired results; establishes a systematic course of action to accomplish objectives Collaboration: Work effectively with others to complete a task or achieve a common objective; ability to cooperate in both interpersonal and team relationships to foster enthusiasm and maintain mutual trust, candor, and respect for others.
