About this role
The opportunity
Aqua is building the next generation of creative experiences for kids and families, combining thoughtful product design with emerging technologies to make creativity more accessible, inspiring, and fun. We're looking for a Senior Visual Designer to define and craft the visual world of Aqua across web, iOS, and Android. You'll set the look and feel of the product and the world: illustration style, color, motion, and imagery that make Aqua feel warm, playful, and unmistakably its own. You'll create artwork yourself and build style guides that will allow a broader team of illustrators and designers extend that world consistently. This is a craft-first role for someone who wants their visual language to become the identity of a product used by kids around the world.
What you'll do
Define and evolve Aqua's visual identity, including illustration style, color palette, typography, iconography, and motion, across web, iOS, and Android. Create original illustrations, graphics, and artwork that bring Aqua's characters, environments, and moments of delight to life. Build and maintain visual style guides that document the Aqua visual language in enough detail for other designers and illustrators to work within it confidently. Direct and review artwork from illustrators and contract designers, giving clear feedback to keep every asset on-brand and on-quality. Partner with product designers and engineers to apply the visual system across UI, marketing surfaces, and in-app moments, including onboarding, empty states, rewards, and celebrations. Explore new visual directions through mood boards, style frames, and quick illustration studies to pressure-test ideas before they're locked in. Stay attuned to what resonates visually with kids and families, and translate that sensibility into design decisions rather than adult-oriented trends. Collaborate with engineering to ensure illustrations and visual assets are production-ready, performant, and implemented faithfully. What you need to succeed Must-haves: 5+ years of visual design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating illustration, art direction, and the ability to define a cohesive visual identity for a product or brand. Demonstrated experience designing for children, families, or playful consumer audiences, with an intuitive sense of what feels joyful and age-appropriate versus generic or overly juvenile. Deep craft skill in illustration, color, typography, and composition, with a portfolio that shows range and a distinctive point of view. Experience creating and documenting visual style guides that others can execute against. Experience directing or collaborating with external illustrators or designers, giving actionable feedback that keeps work consistent with a defined style. Proficiency in industry-standard design and illustration tools (for example, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma) and openness to AI-assisted creative workflows. Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate visual rationale to product, engineering, and leadership audiences. Comfort working across web, iOS, and Android, understanding how illustration and visual systems adapt across platforms and screen sizes. Nice-to-haves: Experience with motion or animated illustration (character animation, micro-interactions, or animated onboarding). Background in children's media, publishing, or entertainment (picture books, animation, edutainment). Familiarity with accessibility considerations in color and typography for young or diverse audiences. Preferred Accessibility Design Skills: Experience designing accessible and inclusive interfaces for people with disabilities. Familiarity with WCAG standards and testing for accessibility compliance. Certifications such as CPACC, WAS, CPWA, or ADS from IAAP are a plus. About Adobe Design Adobe Design is the multidisciplinary, global organization behind Adobe experiences.
