Grade Level (for internal use): 12 S&P Global The role: Lead, IT Service Operations The location: Dalas, TX (hybrid - 2 days onsite per week) Role & Responsibility Summary: As a Cloud Engineer , you’ll be an integral part of our global team of Cloud Engineers to help manage client & internal environments hosted in AWS for our enterprise-grade applications in the Corporate Actions & Custody domain. The team is responsible for all the infrastructure and automation required to support continuous integration and continuous delivery both for client cloud (UAT and Production) environments and internal environments We foster an open, inclusive environment where all perspectives are valued. Core Technical Qualifications: Good knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems and technologies – including shell scripting , OS configuration and troubleshooting Good knowledge of the Java eco system, JEE applications and application servers e.g. JBoss, Oracle WebLogic, IBM WebSphere Understanding of messaging-oriented middleware especially JMS (e.g. IBM MQ, Active MQ) Hands on experience of working in the AWS cloud (AWS preferred) Knowledge of AWS Cloud formation/Azure DevOps/Terraform and Experience with configuration and deployment management in a scripting language Experience of supporting a high uptime/high availability (24x7) system Prior experience of Incident Management/Ticketing Systems (e.g. Jira, ServiceNow) and workflows Experience in source control systems (e.g. GITHub) – branching, hook scripting, access control, backup & recovery Good knowledge of cloud computing concepts AI & Productivity Tooling (Modern Skills): Good knowledge of GenAI tools (e.g. ChatGPT ) Familiarity with prompt engineering or using AI to automate documentation, scripting, monitoring Experience using AI to accelerate DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or observability tooling is a major advantage. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Proven experience in monitoring, analysing, and optimizing large-scale distributed systems in a cloud environment. Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) — bonus if paired with AI-based infrastructure tools. AWS certification or similar credentials are a plus. Ability to estimate usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms Experience with observability and monitoring platforms (e.g. Splunk, Datadog) Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery , concepts and tooling Experience of Springboot would be an advantage Soft Skills: 9+ years of experience as a cloud engineer. Strong problem-solving skills with a growth mindset and openness to AI-powered innovation. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities. Capable of managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment. Occasional outside support hours will be required as part of an on-call rota to provide 24/7 cover Action Managed Services requests within defined SLAs Be familiar with operating in a challenging environment supported from different locations and should also have a strong appreciation of Development processes, tool sets and delivery infrastructure, and be comfortable working with multiple differing systems and tools.
