Job Description

Role Objective

To evaluate measurement feasibility for new and existing components, develop suitable measurement strategies, and design precision jigs/fixtures to ensure accurate, repeatable, and efficient dimensional inspection processes within the Measurement Lab. Key Responsibilities

1. Measurement Feasibility & Planning

Assess manufacturability and measurement feasibility of components based on drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications. Develop measurement strategies using CMM, VMM, height gauges, and other metrology equipment. Define critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and ensure measurable capability. Conduct MSA studies (GR&R, Bias, Linearity, Stability) to validate feasibility. Prepare measurement feasibility reports and share with cross-functional teams

Standardize measurement methods across lab stations. Troubleshoot measurement issues and recommend improvements. Maintain documentation for measurement procedures, inspection standards, and calibration records. Work with design and manufacturing team

2. Jigs & Fixture Design for Measurement

Design jigs, fixtures, and holding devices for precision measurement of complex parts. Ensure fixture designs support repeatability, stability, and ease of use in the measurement process. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure fixture compatibility with measurement equipment. Prepare manufacturing drawings and collaborate with tool-room/vendors for fixture fabrication. Validate fixture performance and document improvements.

Education and Knowledge

BE/ B. Tech (Mechanical) Mechanical Diploma Critical Experience

3–7 years of experience in measurement engineering, metrology, or jig/fixture design. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and tolerance analysis. Hands-on experience with CMM programming Experience designing jigs and fixtures using CAD tools  Knowledge of measurement equipment: CMM, VMM, etc. Experience in automotive/precision manufacturing is an advantage. Exposure to MSA, PPAP, APQP, and IATF 16949 requirements. Competencies
